Manchester United are set to meet Kostas Manolas’ £31m release clause to sign him from AS Roma this summer, according to reports in Italy.
Italian outlet Leggo, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that the Red Devils are pondering a move to bring the 27-year-old Greece defender to Old Trafford this summer.
Manchester United are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his squad ahead of next season.
According to the same report, Manolas could be set to end his time in Italy this summer, as AS Roma are not guaranteed to finish in the top four in Serie A.
Manolas has been a regular fixture in the AS Roma team this season, scoring one goal and making one assist in 24 Serie A games.
Manchester United could well be on the lookout for some defensive reinforcements this summer as the Red Devils look to bolster their options at the back.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils will return to Premier League action on Sunday when they travel to Everton in the top flight.
They are aiming to try and break back into the top four this season to secure qualification for next term’s Champions League.
