Marcus Rashford is close to signing a new contract at Manchester United worth £78m, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Rashford is close to agreeing a new deal that could earn him as much as £300,000 a week at Old Trafford, which is close to what Wayne Rooney was earning at the club before his exit.
The same story says that the 21-year-old’s current wages of around £80,000 a week are set to “rocket” as the Red Devils prepare to make him one of their top-paid players.
According to the same article, Rashford is in “advanced talks” with Manchester United about signing a new five-year contract with the Red Devils.
The same story says that it is expected that Rashford will put pen to paper on his new contract “soon”.
Rashford’s current deal is set to expire at the end of next season – but Manchester United have the option to extend it by a further year until 2021.
The England striker has been in good form this season, and has scored 10 goals and made six assists in 27 Premier League outings for the Red Devils.
Manchester United will host West Ham United in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Saturday night.
