Michael Owen is backing Manchester United to beat West Ham United by two clear goals at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils have lost three of their last four games in all competitions to cast doubt on their top-four challenge and their hopes of reaching the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2011.

Manchester United lost 2-1 to Wolves in their last Premier League fixture, resulting in the Red Devils dropping down to sixth place in the table.

The 20-time English champions will start the Premier League weekend three points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the race to secure a Champions League spot.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were left with an uphill battle in the Champions League after Manchester United lost 1-0 to FC Barcelona in the first leg of their quarter-final at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Luke Shaw’s own-goal proved the difference in the 12th minute as Manchester United require another famous European comeback to potentially meet bitter rivals Liverpool FC in the last four.

And former Man United striker Owen is backing the Red Devils to secure a comfortable victory over West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

“West Ham improved in the second half at Stamford Bridge on Monday, but they were well beaten by Chelsea and I expect United to keep all three points as they look to continue their push for a Champions League berth,” Owen told BetVictor.

“The Irons have lost six of their last seven away league games and have lost all four away games played so far this season against ‘big six’ sides by an aggregate of 1-10.”

Manchester United appointed Solskjaer as their permanent manager last month after he was initially handed the reins following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal back in December.
