Paul Merson gives his prediction for Man United v West Ham
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson is backing Man United to ease to a resounding 3-0 win over West Ham on Saturday
Paul Merson is confident Manchester United will ease to a resounding win over West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday evening despite a difficult run of results in recent weeks.
The Red Devils have lost ground in the title race in recent weeks following a run of four defeats in their last five games in all competitions under new permanent manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Manchester United lost to top-four rivals Arsenal at The Emirates in the lead-up to the international break, before Wolves were 2-1 winners against the Red Devils in their most recent league fixture.
The Red Devils will take on a West Ham side that have lost four of their last six games in the Premier League and who have only won four of their 16 outings on the road in the English top flight this term.
And former Arsenal midfielder Merson is backing Manchester United to ease to a 3-0 win against West Ham in their Premier League meeting on Saturday afternoon.
“I expect Man United to win this one. They’ll do well to turn their Champions League quarter-final with Barcelona around at the Nou Camp, so they’ve got to fight to get into the top four now,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“This is a ‘must win’ game for them. They’ve got to get this game won and then focus on that Barcelona second leg. West Ham have flip-flopped and they can’t really go anywhere.
“They had good stages in the Chelsea game, but it’s a bad run of games and their season’s finished. It’s just a case of getting through it.”
Manchester United are in sixth spot in the Premier League table and two points behind fourth-placed Tottenham with six games to go.
The Red Devils lost 1-0 to FC Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Old Trafford on Wednesday night after Luke Shaw’s own goal.
