Michael Owen is tipping Chelsea FC to secure a 1-1 draw at Slavia Prague in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday night.

The Blues will make the trip to the Czech Republic for the opening leg of the last-eight tie as Maurizio Sarri looks to secure silverware in his first season in charge.

Chelsea FC are taking on Slavia Prague for the first time in a Uefa competition, although the west London side have faced Slavia’s fierce rivals Sparta Prague on four occasions.

The Stamford Bridge outfit won two of those four meetings with Sparta Prague, beating the Czech side over two legs in the Europa League round of 32 en route to winning the competition in 2013.

Chelsea FC are now 13 games unbeaten in the Uefa Europa League, which is a mere two games shy of Atletico Madrid’s competition record.

And former Liverpool FC striker Michael Owen is tipping Chelsea FC to remain unbeaten when they face Slavia Prague in the Czech Republic on Thursday night.

“Slavia Prague have scored 10 times in their last two games in domestic football, but they are likely to find Chelsea a different proposition,” Owen told BetVictor.

“This is a big week for the Blues who travel to Anfield on Sunday in the Premier League and they had Eden Hazard to thank for three points against West Ham on Monday following a virtuoso performance from the Belgian magician.

“Slavia produced the shock of the round in the last 16 when they eliminated Spanish giants Sevilla 6-5 on aggregate courtesy of a 119th minute winner.

“They clearly have goals in their ranks, but I expect Maurizio Sarri’s side to get a draw and score an important away goal.”

Chelsea FC are the only one of the eight quarter-finalists who have won the Uefa Europa League before, although Eintracht Frankfurt, Napoli and Valencia have lifted the trophy in its former guise as the Uefa Cup.

The Blues will take on Premier League leaders Liverpool FC in their next Premier League fixture on Sunday.
