Michael Owen gives his prediction for Tottenham v Brighton
Liverpool FC legend Michael Owen is backing Tottenham Hotspur to beat Brighton on Tuesday night
Michael Owen is backing Tottenham Hotspur to continue their 100 per cent record at their new stadium on Tuesday night.
Spurs will be eager to get back to winning ways to help cement their claim for a Champions League qualification spot.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side lost 1-0 to defending champions Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The defeat appeared to be a blow to their top-four ambitions with Arsenal, Chelsea FC and Manchester United all playing after Spurs.
However, Arsenal and Manchester United suffered defeats by Crystal Palace and Everton, while Chelsea FC could only muster a draw with Burnley.
As a result, Tottenham remained in third spot and a point ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal in the race to secure Champions League football next term.
Spurs have a 100 per cent record at their new stadium, including a 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Tottenham to secure a comfortable win over Brighton in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
“Spurs have won all three games played at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium without conceding a goal and I expect them to continue that sequence against Brighton even though the Seagulls picked up a terrific point at Molineux on Saturday,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Chris Hughton’s side have failed to score in their last five league games and they look sure to defend deep, and in numbers, against the Champions League semi-finalists.
“I expect Spurs to eventually break down the Brighton defence although they may have to be patient as they look to cement their place in the top four.”
Tottenham progressed to the Champions League semi-finals after a 4-3 loss to Manchester City in the second leg was sufficient to secure a place in the last four on the away goals rule.
Spurs will take on Ajax in the semi-finals.
