Unai Emery insists he would rather “win something” than collect Arsenal records after earning more victories than any other Gunners boss after his first 50 games in charge.

Arsenal were impressive 1-0 winners against Serie A side Napoli in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final in Naples last week.

Their Europa League triumph in Italy was Emery’s 32nd victory in 50 games in charge of Arsenal after the Spanish head coach replaced Arsene Wenger last summer.

Wenger, who is generally regarded as the north London side’s best manager of the modern area, won a mere 23 times in his opening 50 fixtures as Arsenal boss.

Emery also surpassed the previous record holder George Alisson, who led Arsenal to 28 victories by the time of his half century milestone.

Arsenal remain on course to finish Emery’s first season in charge in positive fashion, with the Gunners in competition for a top-four finish.

Emery’s side can reach their first Europa League final if Arsenal manage to beat their manager’s former team Valencia over two legs in the last four.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Emery admitted that he’d rather win silverware than collect records at Arsenal.

“It’s great for us as a team and great for me as a coach, but I want to win all of the matches I play,” Emery said.

“I want to be here and have the possibility to win something important with Arsenal. I think we are improving. It is in our hands to do something important at the end of the season.

“I am proud of the players, I am proud of the club, I am proud of our supporters, I am proud of our situation now – with possibilities in the Europa League and Premier League.

“We want to play next season in the Champions League, but we know it is going to be difficult. We need our focus to be 100 per cent, we need everybody concentrated.”

Arsenal will taken on Valencia in the Europa League semi-finals with a meeting against Chelsea FC or Eintracht Frankfurt in the final on the horizon.
