Michael Owen states his prediction for Watford v Arsenal
Liverpool FC legend Michael Owen is predicting that Arsenal will lose successive Premier League games at Watford on Monday night
Michael Owen is backing Arsenal to lose successive Premier League to cast doubt on their hopes of a top-four finish at Watford on Monday night.
The Gunners suffered a 1-0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park last weekend to drop out of the top four following an impressive run under Unai Emery.
Arsenal’s six-game unbeaten run came to an end on Merseyside as Everton dealt a blow to the north London side’s chances of securing a return to the Champions League after a two-season absence.
The Gunners are in fifth place in the Premier League table and a point adrift of their bitter north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the race to secure the final Champions League spot.
Watford, on the other hand, will be buoyed by reaching the FA Cup final at Wembley last weekend after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Wolves in the semi-final.
And former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Watford to inflict more damage upon Arsenal’s top-four bid at Vicarage Road on Monday night.
“FA Cup finalists Watford won the corresponding fixture against Arsenal last season 2-1 and I think they will give Unai Emery’s side plenty to think about in a game sandwiched in-between the Gunners’ Europa League quarter-final ties with Napoli,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Vicarage Road is sure to be bouncing after the Hornets’ tremendous Wembley comeback and the Gunners’ have yet to keep a clean sheet on the road so far this league season.
“If there is to be a winner on Monday night I feel it will be the hosts.”
Arsenal have finished outside the top four in the last two Premier League campaigns under Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners appointed Emery as Wenger’s replacement last summer after they ended up in sixth place and without a trophy last season.
