Pundit tips Arsenal or Chelsea FC to sign Wilfried Zaha
ESPN pundit Steve Nicol believes either Arsenal or Chelsea FC will sign Wilfried Zaha this summer
Arsenal or Chelsea FC will end up signing Wilfried Zaha this summer, according to ESPN pundit Steve Nicol.
Zaha has established himself as one of the best talents outside of the top six in the Premier League over the past couple of years.
The 26-year-old scored 10 times in 34 games in the Premier League to help the Eagles secure their place in the English top flight for another season.
Zaha struggled to have an impact at Manchester United when he moved to the Red Devils from Palace in a £10m deal in 2013.
However, the Ivorian winger has improved as a player under Roy Hodgson’s guidance to become one of the Premier League’s most consistent wide men.
Former Liverpool FC defender Nicol believes Zaha will make a good addition to Arsenal or Chelsea FC this summer.
“I think the time is right for him to take a step up,” Nicol told ESPN FC.
“I don’t believe he’s the type of player or person who wants to go abroad, I think he’s quite happy in England.
“He’s already had that stint at Manchester United, which was a complete disaster and was probably part of his maturation. Because he’s been there already, there’s been links to United. I don’t see him doing that.
“I don’t think, psychologically, having had such a disaster there for two seasons that he would go back so we can forget them.
“I think we’re talking Arsenal or Chelsea. If Chelsea are letting [Eden] Hazard go, they will still be able to make some transfers.”
Zaha has scored 35 goals in 180 games in all competitions over the past five seasons at Palace.
Arsenal and Chelsea FC will go head-to-head in the Europa League final in Baku later this month.
While Chelsea FC have already secured their top four spot, Arsenal can qualify for the Champions League if they beat the Blues.
