Arsenal offer 29-year-old La Liga star a contract – report
Arsenal have made a contract offer to Valencia goalkeeper Norberto Murara, according to a report
Arsenal have offered Valencia goalkeeper Norberto Murara a contract as the Gunners look to replace Petr Cech, according to a report in Spain.
Spanish media outlet Plaza Deportivo, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that Arsenal are looking to sign Murara, who is under contract until 2021, this summer.
The same article states that Unai Emery is a big fan of the Valencia shot-stopper despite already having Bernd Leno as the club’s established number one.
According to the same story, the Arsenal manager wants Murara to replace Petr Cech after the Czech Republic international retired at the end of the 2018-19 season.
The report goes on to state that Murara has turned down Arsenal’s contract offer due to the terms of the deal falling short of his expectations.
The Plaza Deportivo report claims that the Valencia shot-stopper is also eager to move to a club where Champions League football is guaranteed next season.
Arsenal can still qualify for the Champions League next season if the Gunners can beat Chelsea FC in the Europa League final later this month.
The north London side finished in fifth place in the Premier League table this season following a mixed first season under Arsene Wenger’s successor.
The Gunners are looking to win their first trophy under Emery in Baku.
