Arsenal chief updates fans on summer transfer plans
Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi delivers an update on the north London club's plans for the summer transfer window
Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi has revealed that the north London club have already identified the signings they want to make this summer.
The Gunners are likely to be linked with a host of new signings in the coming weeks and months as they look to try and bolster their squad in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal ended up in fifth place in the Premier League table to miss out on a top-four finish, but they can still book their place in the Champions League next season if they are able to win the Europa League.
The north London side will take on Chelsea FC in the Europa League final in Baku on Wednesday night as they look to win a trophy in Unai Emery’s first campaign in charge and book their place in the Champions League.
Attentions after the final will inevitably then turn towards the summer transfer window and the Gunners’ plans to bolster their squad.
And Arsenal chief Sanllehi has now given an update on the Gunners’ plans for the summer window.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Evening Standard, Sanllehi said: “What I can tell you is that we have identified very clearly and unanimously with our head coach and technical people, we know what we want to prioritise and we’re very clear on what our priorities are.
“We’re already in the market and we’re already talking with the people that can help us to cover those positions and I feel quite strong.
“It’s going well and the image that Arsenal has in the football world is very strong.
“Vinai was mentioning we’re a top world club and we are, so we need to go where we belong and that’s the Champions League.
“Many players really want us to be there also when we’re talking with them, but I feel quite strong on the inputs that I’m getting so far.
“I do believe that we have a very good plan to cover those positions to be much stronger next year, to deliver the success that we’re all hoping for.”
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
