Michael Owen is backing Arsenal to bolster their top-four hopes with victory over Brighton at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners still have an outside chance of finishing in the Premier League’s top four this term should Chelsea FC endured a disappointing end to the campaign.

Arsenal are in fifth place and two points adrift of their bitter London rivals after losing to Crystal Palace, Wolves and Leicester City in their last three Premier League games.

The north London side can still qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League after Arsenal were 3-1 winners against Valencia in the first leg of their semi-final at The Emirates on Thursday night.

However, Arsenal will be eager to sign off their Premier League season at The Emirates with a victory before their return trip to The Mestalla next week.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Arsenal to ease to a straightforward win over Brighton on Sunday evening.

“Brighton have lost all 11 of their Premier League away games by an aggregate score of 2-23 against the ‘big six’ sides, and it is hard to make a case for them at The Emirates on Sunday,” Owen told BetVictor.

“The Gunners were in Europa League action against Valencia on Thursday, but they cannot take their eye off the ball as they look to end the campaign in the top four.

“The Seagulls’ point against Newcastle last weekend is likely to preserve their PL status, but they are without a win in their last seven.

“Arsenal are hardly in a rich vein of form themselves, having lost their last three league games, but they should sign-off their home league campaign in style.”

Arsenal reached the Europa League semi-finals last season before a 2-1 aggregate loss to La Liga side Atletico Madrid.

The Gunners appointed Unai Emery as their new manager last summer after Arsene Wenger could only guide Arsenal to a sixth-placed finish.

Arsenal will face a Brighton side who are still fighting for survival this weekend.
