The Gunners will be eager to return to winning ways to put pressure on fourth-placed Chelsea FC ahead of the final round of Premier League fixtures next weekend.
Arsenal have lost their last three Premier League games to Crystal Palace, Wolves and Leicester City but Emery’s side still have an outside chance of a top-four finish.
Brighton, on the other hand, know that their top-flight status will be secured if they can get a point at Arsenal irrespective of the outcome of Cardiff’s home clash against Crystal Palace.
The Gunners were impressive 3-1 winners against La Liga side Valencia at The Emirates on Thursday night in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final.
Goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sealed a good result for the Gunners ahead of their return trip to The Mestalla for the second leg next week.
Former Arsenal midfielder Merson is backing Arsenal to ease to a 3-0 victory over Brighton at The Emirates on Sunday.
“If Cardiff have already won, it’s panic time for Brighton. I can’t see anything but an Arsenal win, they need to win to keep the pressure on,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“Brighton are very fortunate – they stuck in there against Newcastle and got a result, but it could’ve been very different in that game. They weren’t in it for long stages.”
Arsenal have failed to finish in the Premier League’s top four in their last two seasons under Emery’s predecessor Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners have never won the Europa League in its current format, having reached the semi-finals and losing to Atletico Madrid last term.
