Former Liverpool FC striker Michael Owen is backing Arsenal to sign off on the Premier League season with a draw at Burnley
Michael Owen is backing Arsenal to play out a draw with Burnley in their final Premier League fixture of the season at Turf Moor on Sunday.
The Gunners missed out on a top-four finish for the third successive season following a run of three consecutive losses in the Premier League to miss the chance to demote Tottenham Hotspur to fifth spot.
Spurs have all but sealed the final Champions League spot thanks to their superior goal difference over Arsenal.
However, Emery’s side can still qualify for next season’s Champions League if the Gunners manage to beat Chelsea FC in the Europa League final in Baku later this month.
Arsenal secured their place in the Europa League showpiece thanks to a 4-2 victory over Valencia in the second leg of their semi-final tie at The Mestalla on Thursday night.
Unai Emery will be eager to see Arsenal sign off with a win in the Premier League to continue their momentum ahead of the Europa League showpiece in Azerbaijan.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing the Gunners to play out a draw with Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon.
“Burnley have lost their last nine games with Arsenal in all competitions, but I believe the Clarets will pick up a point at Turf Moor irrespective of the Gunners’ result at Valencia in the Europa League on Thursday,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Sean Dyche was not happy with his side’s opening 45-minutes at Goodison on Friday and I expect to see a much-improved performance from his side on Sunday.
“Arsenal must win to stand any chance of finishing in the top four, but their poor second-half against Brighton last weekend summed their inconsistent Premier League season up.”
Arsenal managed to reach the Europa League final following a 7-3 aggregate victory over Valencia in the last four.
