The 28-year-old playmaker has been widely tipped to move to Real Madrid at the end of the season after months of speculation linking him with a switch to the Bernabeu.
Hazard was a central figure in helping Chelsea FC to seal a third-placed finish in the Premier League table this season, with the Belgian having netted 16 goals and made 15 assists in the top flight.
The attacking midfielder will now be hoping to help the Blues end the season on a high when they take on Arsenal in the Europa League final in Baku on 29 May.
It remains to be seen whether Hazard’s move to Real Madrid will be confirmed soon, but Azpilicueta believes that the midfielder has earned the right to make the decision about his future.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, as quoted by Metro, Azpilicueta said: “Obviously Eden is a very important player for us.
“We arrived here at the same time and obviously we want him to stay with us – but we have to respect his decision.
“He is a Chelsea player and his mind is only doing well with Chelsea and on lifting the trophy in Baku – and then we will see.”
Hazard joined Chelsea FC from Lille back in 2012 and has won two Premier League titles in his time with the west London club.
