Wayne Bridge issues warning to Chelsea FC about Eden Hazard
Wayne Bridge has his say on Eden Hazard's future at Chelsea FC ahead of the summer transfer window
Wayne Bridge has warned Chelsea FC that they will not be able to replace Eden Hazard if he leaves Stamford Bridge this summer.
The 28-year-old has been strongly linked with a transfer away from Chelsea FC in recent months, with Real Madrid believed to have a long-standing interest in signing the Belgian playmaker.
The speculation linking Hazard with a move to Real Madrid has only intensified since Zinedine Zidane was re-appointed as the club’s new manager earlier this year.
Hazard’s current contract at Chelsea FC is set to expire at the end of next season, and the Blues may choose to sell him this summer rather than risk losing him for free next year.
The former Lille star is widely regarded as one of European football’s top attacking talents, and former Chelsea FC star Bridge has warned that it will be almost impossible to replace Hazard should he leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Bridge said: “If Chelsea lose Hazard, I don’t know how they could replace him.
“I couldn’t think who they would sign because Hazard is one of the best players in the world.
“I would think only Messi or Ronaldo could replace him. I think if they do lose him, they can’t replace him.
“That’s why I worry that Chelsea could struggle even more than they are doing at the moment. He has been a huge part of the club’s season with goals and assists.
“I would love to see Hazard stay to help the club compete and he has been so good for the league, but we don’t know what will happen.”
Hazard will be expecting to feature for Chelsea FC when the Blues take on Watford in front of their home fans at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues are currently fourth in the table as they bid to secure Champions League qualification for next season.
