Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to ease to a comfortable victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.
Chelsea FC are on the brink of reaching their second Europa League final after Pedro Rodriguez cancelled out Luka Jovac’s opener in Germany last week.
Maurizio Sarri’s side have won all six of their home fixtures in the Europa League this season to underline their strong form on home soil in the competition.
The Blues are unbeaten in 16 games in the Europa League, a run which stretches back to their triumph in the competition under Rafael Benitez back in 2013.
The west London side managed to beat Benfica in the Europa League final in Amsterdam to win the competition for the first time in their history.
Chelsea FC wrapped up a top-four finish at the weekend thanks to a 3-0 victory over Watford as Arsenal and Manchester United failed to win their penultimate Premier League fixtures of the season.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Chelsea FC to beat Eintracht Frankfurt and reach the Europa League final on Thursday night.
“Chelsea warmed up for the visit of Frankfurt with a comfortable 3-0 success over Watford on Sunday, a win that confirmed they will be playing Champions League football next term,” Owen told BetVictor.
“The Blues have never lost a home game against German opposition in European competition (D2 W7) although it is significant that Frankfurt have scored in all six of their away games in the competition so far this season.
“They may well find the back of the net again at the Bridge, but I feel it will be Chelsea who make the Final in Azerbaijan later in the month.”
Chelsea FC have never lost at home to German visitors, winning six of the eight fixtures, all of which have been in the Uefa Champions League over the past 20 years.
