Michael Owen is confident that Chelsea FC will beat Watford to bolster their top-four hopes at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues played out a 1-1 draw with German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday night.

Chelsea FC star Pedro Rodriguez cancelled out Luka Jovic’s breakthrough goal to ensure the Premier League side scored an away goal.

Maurizio Sarri’s side remain in a strong position to reach the Champions League next season given that Chelsea FC are in fourth spot with two games to go.

Chelsea FC are two points ahead of Arsenal and a further point clear of Manchester United in the race to secure the final Champions League spot.

The Blues were 2-1 winners against Watford on Boxing Day at Vicarage Road thanks to goals from Eden Hazard.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Chelsea FC to do the domestic double over Watford at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

“Chelsea cannot afford any slip-ups against the FA Cup finalists as they look to maintain their place in the top four,” Owen told BetVictor.

“The game comes in the middle of Chelsea’s Europa League semi-final ties with Eintracht Frankfurt, which gives the West London outfit a second string to their Champions League qualification bow.

“Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 11 home games with Watford in all competitions and I feel they will do enough to keep the points against the Hornets.”

Chelsea FC failed to finish in the Premier League’s top four last season despite being the defending champions.

The Blues have struggled to find consistent form throughout Maurizio Sarri’s first season in charge of the west London outfit.

Chelsea FC are looking to improve upon their fifth-placed finish under Antonio Conte last term.
