The England midfielder has only just made his return to first-team action for the Merseyside outfit after he suffered a serious knee injury around a year ago.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has been working hard on his fitness levels behind the scenes and the 25-year-old made his return to action when he came on during the 5-0 win over Huddersfield Town last week.
The midfielder will now be keen to ensure that he hits peak fitness in the coming weeks as he aims to be back to his best for next season.
And Liverpool FC legend Barnes is tipping Oxlade-Chamberlain to be an important player for the Reds next season, along with fellow England international Joe Gomez.
Speaking in an interview with bonuscodebets.co.uk, Barnes said: “Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will have a huge impact next season.
“I don’t think he’ll have a big impact this season, as it’s hard to hit the ground running with not many games left of the season.
“Joe Gomez will also be important for Liverpool next season, and it will be like having two new players to the squad.
“They’re both quality international players. It’s unrealistic to expect them to be back to their best straight away.”
Liverpool FC suffered a disappointing 3-0 loss to FC Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday night in the first leg of their tie at Camp Nou.
The Reds will have to dust themselves down as they prepare to return to Premier League action with a trip to Newcastle United on Saturday night.
