Journalist: Liverpool FC and Man United open talks to sign 24-year-old winger
Liverpool FC and Man United are both keen ti sign Nicolas Pepe this summer, claims reporter Duncan Castles
Both Liverpool FC and Manchester United are interested in signing winger Nicolas Pepe from Lille this summer, according to journalist Duncan Castles.
Manchester United are thought to be on the lookout for a number of players this summer as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
Liverpool FC may also be looking to add some more depth to their squad during the off-season as they bid to go one step further and win the Premier League next term.
Ivory Coast international Pepe is no stranger to reports linking him with a move to the Premier League, but a move has not yet materialised.
Pepe, 24, was in fine form for Lille this season, scoring 22 goals and making 11 assists in 38 Ligue 1 games for the French side.
Now, sports journalist Castles has claimed that both Liverpool FC and Manchester United have made initial enquires about the possibility of signing the attacker this summer.
Speaking on the Transfer Window podcast, Castles said: “From what I’ve been told, Liverpool have been in contact with Pepe’s agent to discuss a deal, his interest in coming and what is would cost to come. Lille are aware of this and are waiting for a bid.
“Manchester United have enquired directly to Lille about what the transfer fee would be. PSG also have an interest in Pepe.
“Lille have been very clear he’s available for sale and the asking price is €80m (£70m). They would love to have a bid come in from Liverpool and United to get an auction going.”
Manchester United are bound to be linked with a number of player this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to revamp his squad after a disappointing Premier League campaign.
The Red Devils ended up in sixth place in the Premier League table and without a trophy for the second campaign running this term.
