Jamie Carragher has taken to social media to reveal his delight after Liverpool FC staged an incredible comeback to beat FC Barcelona 4-0 at Anfield and reach the Champions League final.

The Reds headed into the game trailing the Spanish side 3-0 from the first leg at Camp Nou after goals from Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi put the Catalan side in control of the semi-final tie.

However, Liverpool FC stated their intentions early on when Divock Origi fired home from close range in the seventh minute.

Leading 1-0 at half-time, substitue Georginio Wijnaldum scored in the 54th and 56th minute to put Liverpool FC 3-0 up on the night and level the tie on aggregate.

Origi then netted his second of the night after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s brilliant quickly-taken corner caught FC Barcelona out.

The Reds held on to claim a 4-0 win on the night and wrap up a 4-3 aggregate victory to book their place in the Champions League final for the second successive season.

And former Liverpool FC star Carragher was quick to label the comeback as the greatest ever European night at Anfield.

After the final whistle, Carragher wrote on Twitter: “Greatest night ever at Anfield! #LIVBAR @ChampionsLeague.”

Meanwhile, former England goalkeeper David James also chimed in on the social network, writing: “Wow!!!! What a watch!! @LFC were nothing short of amazing!!”

And finally, former Manchester United defender Danny Higginbotham added his own say after the final whistle: “THROUGH GRITTED TEETH. Liverpool absolutely immense.

“Considering the opposition and the players missing it’s one if not the greatest ever come backs I’ve ever seen. Start to finish faster and quicker and more alert all over the pitch !!!”

Liverpool FC will take on Wolves at Anfield in their final Premier League game of the season on Sunday afternoon, and they will play either Tottenham Hotspur or Ajax in the Champions League final in Madrid on 1 June.
