Jurgen Klopp has ruled Roberto Firmino out of Liverpool FC’s clash against FC Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night.

The 27-year-old has been struggling with a muscular injury that the South American forward picked up in training at Melwood.

The Brazil international was still a second-half substitute in Liverpool FC’s 3-0 loss to FC Barcelona in the first leg at Camp Nou last week.

Firmino was unable to help Liverpool FC to find a way back into the last-four tie to leave the Reds with a lot of work to do in the return fixture.

The 27-year-old sat out Liverpool FC’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday evening as Divock Origi’s late winner sealed a dramatic win.

Speaking at his news conference after the five-goal thriller at St James’ Park, Klopp confirmed that Firmino wouldn’t feature against FC Barcelona in the second leg.

“He will not be ready for Tuesday and the rest we will see,” Klopp said.

Firmino has scored 16 goals in 44 games in all competitions this season, which is 11 goals less than the 2017-18 season.

Liverpool FC are looking to reach their second successive Champions League final following a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid last term.

The Merseyside outfit are on course to finish in the top four for the third consecutive season under Klopp.
