Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Kiev final last season in a game that was marred by Loris Karius’ mistakes in the Reds goal to undermine a good performance.
The Merseyside outfit have won the competition on five previous occasions and have reached the Champions League final four times in the past 15 years.
Liverpool FC lost 3-0 to FC Barcelona in the first leg at the Camp Nou before a staggering 4-0 victory over the Spanish giants in the return fixture at Anfield.
Tottenham suffered a 1-0 defeat by Ajax in the first leg in London before the Dutch side netted two quick-fire goals to secure a commanding 3-0 aggregate lead.
However, Spurs forward Lucas Moura netted a second-half hat-trick at the Amsterdam Arena to secure Tottenham’s progress to the Champions League final on away goals.
Former Tottenham midfielder Anderton believes Spurs can upset the odds and find a way to beat Liverpool FC in Madrid next weekend.
“I think Tottenham will win the Champions League final,” Anderton told Sportingbet. “All the pressure if on Liverpool to win and that will play in to Tottenham’s hands.
“After the incredible run that Tottenham have had in the Champions League this season, I would back them to bring the trophy home.
“Liverpool are favourites for obvious reasons, but it certainly feels that Spurs name is on the trophy; they’ve had an incredible run.
“When it comes down to a one-off match, I would back Spurs on the day against anyone. It should be a great final and I think Spurs will edge it 2-1.”
