Manchester United could miss out on the signing of Daniel James despite Ryan Giggs’ intervention because the Welsh starlet is a Liverpool FC supporter, according to talkSPORT host Jim White.

The Swansea City midfielder has impressed in the Championship this season after the 21-year-old scored four goals and made seven assists in 32 games in England’s second tier.

James has been attracting interest from Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Manchester United following his impressive season for Swansea.

Wales manager Ryan Giggs has already called up James to the national team and handed the Swansea midfielder made his debut against Albania in November 2018.

While White revealed Giggs has attempted to sell a potential move to Manchester United, the talkSPORT host suggested that the Swansea star could be set to move to Liverpool FC given that he’s a Reds supporter.

“Swansea City have got this lad Daniel James, very impressive youngster,” White told talkSPORT. “He’s rated at about £10million plus add-ons.

“It’s my understanding this morning five of the top six, all apart from Manchester City, have enquired about Daniel James at Swansea.

“He was actually recommended to Manchester United by Ryan Giggs.

“He’s a kid but he’s got a pedigree already. But he’s a big Liverpool fan and I wonder, are we going to see this kid Daniel James heading towards Liverpool?

“So if the news wasn’t great for Liverpool, it might even get better very soon.”

James has scored four goals in 25 games for Swansea since the midfielder broke into the Welsh team’s starting line up back in February 2018.

Liverpool FC reached their second successive Champions League final following a 4-0 victory over FC Barcelona at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Manchester United will finish the season without a trophy, with the Red Devils in sixth place and 28 points behind second-placed Liverpool FC.

The Reds can still win the title if Liverpool FC beat Wolves and Manchester City fail to secure victory at Brighton.
