Michael Owen is backing Liverpool FC to beat Wolves in their final Premier League fixture of the season at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds will return to Premier League action for their final top-flight game of an enthralling title race on Merseyside following their mid-week heroics in the Champions League.

Liverpool FC managed to overturn a 3-0 deficit from the first leg at Camp Nou to beat La Liga champions FC Barcelona 4-0 in the return fixture at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Goals from Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum sealed a 4-0 victory over FC Barcelona and set up a Champions League final meeting with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool FC can still win the Premier League title if Manchester City drop points against Brighton at the Amex Stadium in the final round of fixtures this weekend.

The Reds are sitting in second place and a point adrift of Manchester City, having only lost one Premier League fixture this term.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing the Reds to beat Wolves at Anfield on Sunday.

“Champions League finalists Liverpool would be worthy winners of a 19th top-flight title should City slip up at the Amex, but I feel it will be in Madrid at the beginning of June, rather than Anfield on Sunday, that the Reds win the major Trophy their magnificent season deserves,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Wolves, themselves, have had a terrific first season back in the top-flight and are guaranteed to finish seventh in the table.

“Liverpool will go unbeaten at home for a second successive season if they avoid defeat to Wolves and I think Jurgen Klopp’s side can end their tremendous Premier League season in style.”

The Reds’ only defeat in the Premier League this season came in a 2-1 loss to Manchester City at The Etihad back in January.

Liverpool FC have never won the Premier League title despite finishing in second place three times.
