Manchester United are working on a deal to sign FC Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic this summer, according to a report in Scotland.

Scottish media outlet the Daily Record is reporting that Manchester United are looking to sign the experienced Croatia international to bolster their midfield options.

The same article states that the Spanish side would be willing to sell Rakitic for a €55m to fund their summer transfer plans.

According to the same story, Manchester United are eager to get a deal done especially in light of the uncertainty surrounding Paul Pogba’s future at the club.

The Daily Record report goes on to say that the 20-time English champions would be willing to spend £30m on the World Cup finalist.

Manchester United are in need of a revamp this summer after the Red Devils limped to a disappointing sixth-placed finish in the Premier League.

Solskjaer’s side won’t be competing in the Champions League next term following a disappointing run to end the Premier League season.

Rakitic has a wealth of experience that includes winning four La Liga titles, the Champions League crown as well as reaching the World Cup final last summer.

Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League or the Champions League since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
