Man United are still in the running to sign Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt, say reports

Manchester United are still in the running to sign Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Telegraph is reporting that the Red Devils are keen on a deal to bring the 19-year-old to Old Trafford this summer as they look to bolster their squad.
The same story says that the Red Devils still have a good chance of being able to land the teenager, despite them not being able to offer Champions League football for next season.
It is claimed in the same article that despite claims to the contrary, De Ligt would be open to a move to Old Trafford if a rebuild is on the cards.
The story, however, suggests that Manchester United would face considerable competition from a host of Europe’s other top clubs.
The article cites sources in Amsterdam as saying that the teenager remains “interested” in a move to Old Trafford this summer.
Manchester United are bound to be linked with a number of Europe’s top players this summer as they look to revamp their squad ahead of next season.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League this term and without a trophy after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was confirmed as the club’s new permament manager back in March.
