The Red Devils are likely to be linked with a whole host of players over the next few months as they look to strengthen their squad after a disappointing season all round.
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table and without a trophy this term after another disappointing campaign.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will now be firmly fixed on the summer transfer window as he looks to see which players he could bring in to strengthen his squad ahead of the new campaign.
The Red Devils have been linked with a number of attackers in recent weeks – but former midfielder Savage feels that Grealish should be the first name on their hit-list.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Savage said: “If I were Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the first signing on my list this summer would be Jack Grealish.
“If the rumours are true, and Manchester United are looking at Swansea’s Daniel James and Newcastle prospect Sean Longstaff as possible signings, I would go for Grealish ahead of them.
“Even if Aston Villa win promotion on Monday, Grealish is the player I would move heaven and earth to wear the red shirt of United. As the best player in the Championship, he would cost a lot for Solskjaer to buy.
“But Grealish glides past opponents, took on the Villa captaincy at a young age and thrived on the responsibility.
“Jack’s the lad. He’s the one United should be looking to sign ahead of anyone else.”
The 23-year-old has scored six goals and made seven assists in 33 Championship appearances for Aston Villa this season.
Manchester United have not won the Premier League title since their final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2012-13.
Their trophyless campaign this term was their second in a row after they brought in Solskjaer as Jose Mourinho’s successor back in December.
