Andy Robertson rejects claims he told 22-year-old to consider Arsenal move
Andy Robertson takes to social media to reject claims that he has been speaking to Kieran Tierney about a move to Arsenal
Andy Robertson has taken to social media to insist that he has not urged Kieran Tierney to consider a move to Arsenal this summer.
Arsenal have been credited with an interest in signing the 22-year-old defender from the Scottish champions this summer as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his squad ahead of next season.
The latest reports in the British media have suggested that Arsenal will have to pay out as much as £25m to land their man this summer.
Robertson has enjoyed immense success in the Liverpool FC team since signing for the Reds from Hull City in July 2017.
Speaking on the Transfer Window podcast, Ian McGarry claimed that Robertson had spoken to Tierney about a possible move away from Celtic to join Arsenal.
McGarry said: “The second thing that has changed for Kieran Tierney is speaking to his international teammate Andy Robertson.
“Having won the Champions League at the end of last season, he’s [Robertson’s] told Tierney, ‘Look, don’t default your career for the sake of staying at the club you support’.”
However, Robertson himself took to Twitter to reject those claims by retweeting a post containing that quote and adding the comment: “Lot of rubbish 🤷♂️.”
Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer but they have not yet announced any new arrivals.
