Unai Emery has asked the Arsenal board to bankroll a bid for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha this summer, according to a report in England.

The Sun, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Gunners boss is eager to sign the 26-year-old to bolster his attack ahead of the new Premier League season.

The same article states that Emery has a mere £45m to spend on new signings in the summer transfer window to leave the Spanish head coach with a limited budget to improve his team.

According to the same story, Palace are open to the sale of Zaha given that the Ivory Coast international wants to test himself in Europe, although a Champions League club was his preferred destination.

The report goes on to add that the Eagles won’t sell both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Zaha, which puts Arsenal under pressure to sign the Ivorian before Manchester United complete a deal for the right-back.

The Sun claim that Emery has requested extra funds from his Arsenal bosses to sign Zaha but the report doesn’t indicate whether the Spanish head coach was successful.

Arsenal lost 4-1 to bitter rivals Chelsea FC in the Europa League final last term to miss out on a place in the Champions League for the 2018-19 season.
