Callum Hudson-Odoi wants assurances from Chelsea FC chiefs – report
Callum Hudson-Odoi wants assurances about his future before signing a new deal at Chelsea FC, say reports
Callum Hudson-Odoi wants assurances of regular first-team football before agreeing a new contract at Chelsea FC, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that the 18-year-old is eager to be handed more regular playing time before committing his long-term future to the west London club.
Hudson-Odoi – who is currently recovering from Achilles surgery – was a more regular fixture in Maurizio Sarri’s first team towards the end of last season before picking up the serious injury.
According to the same article, Chelsea FC are in talks about handing Hudson-Odoi a new five-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
Hudson-Odoi is on track to make a return to action for September, and according to the same story, Chelsea FC have even offered to hand him Eden Hazard’s number 10 shirt in a bid to try and convince him to stay.
However, the teenager is said to be playing “hardball” about his future after he grew frustrated about his lack of first-team opportunities in the first half of last season.
Hudson-Odoi’s current Chelsea FC contract is set to expire at the end of next season, so Chelsea FC will be keen to tie him down to a new deal to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.
