Chelsea FC are set to confirm Frank Lampard as their new manager by the end of the week, according to a report in England.
The Evening Standard is reporting that the former Chelsea FC midfielder is the west London side’s first choice to replace Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.
The same article states that the Blues might have to pay up to £4m in compensation to Lampard’s current employers Derby County if a deal comes to fruition.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC are ready to hand Lampard a three-year deal once the retired England international returns from his summer holiday.
The Evening Standard goes on to add that Lampard has already informed Derby that he wants to leave the Championship side to take over the reins of his former club.
Sarri was confirmed as Juventus manager earlier this week after the Italian coach left the Stamford Bridge outfit following one season in charge of Chelsea FC.
He led Chelsea FC to a third-placed finish in the Premier League ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Manchester United despite some patchy form in the top flight.
Sarri won his first trophy as a manager when Chelsea FC were 4-1 winners against Arsenal in the Europa League final in Baku last month.
