Chelsea FC are on the brink of agreeing a permanent deal to sign Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic, according to a report in Italy.
Italian website Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that Chelsea FC are set to sign Kovacic in a €50m from Real Madrid on 30 June.
The same article states that Kovacic will put pen to paper on a contract on Saturday once Chelsea FC and the Croatian midfielder have agreed on wages.
According to the same story, the Blues will pay an initial €50m price but the fee could rise once bonuses are included.
Gianluca di Marzio go on to add that Chelsea FC were able to sign Kovacic in spite of their transfer ban after a potential deal was put in place during his loan spell at the west London club.
Kovacic failed to score a goal in 51 appearances in all competitions during his season-long loan spell at the Stamford Bridge outfit.
The World Cup runner-up got his hands on the Europa League trophy after Chelsea FC were 4-1 winners against bitter rivals Arsenal in the Baku showpiece.
The Blues finished in third place in the Premier League table last season to secure a return to the Champions League following a 12-month absence from the competition.
