Mohamed Salah heaped praise on his Liverpool FC team-mates after their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur secured the club’s sixth Champions League title in Madrid on Saturday night.

Liverpool FC were awarded a second-minute penalty when Moussa Sissoko was penalised for handling the ball inside his own penalty area.

Salah made no mistake from the penalty spot to score his 27th goal of the season in all competitions, including his fifth in the Champions League.

Liverpool FC were content to sit back and invite pressure from Tottenham in the second half as Virgil van Dijk marshalled their imperious defence.

Spurs had a couple of chances but the north London side struggled to really test Liverpool FC number one Alisson Becker.

Substitute Divock Origi scored with a precise finish in the 87th minute to secure the Champions League trophy for the Reds following last season’s disappointment.

Salah was forced off in the first half of their 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final last term.

And the Egypt international was delighted with both his performance and the team’s overall display to beat Tottenham.

“Everyone is happy now, I am glad to play the second final in a row and play 90 minutes finally,” Salah told BT Sport.

“Everyone did his best today, no great individual performances today, all the team was unbelievable.”

Liverpool FC were 4-0 winners against FC Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final after the Reds lost 3-0 at Camp Nou.

Tottenham, on the other hand, came from 2-0 down in the Dutch capital to win 3-2 at the Amsterdam Arena thanks to Lucas Moura’s hat-trick.
