Jose Mourinho has admitted that the quality of Liverpool FC’s 2-0 win over Tottenham in the Champions League final on Saturday night was “not good”.

The Reds headed into the game looking to claim a trophy after they missed out on the Premier League title by a single point.

Liverpool FC took the lead inside two minutes when Mohamed Salah dispatched his penalty, but the game was far from inspiring as both sides struggled to create chances.

Tottenham sprang into life in the second half of the game but it was Liverpool FC who ended up having the final say, when substitute Divock Origi fired home a second goal for the Reds in the 87th minute.

Liverpool FC held on to lift the Champions League trophy for the sixth time and win their first piece of silverware under Jurgen Klopp.

However, former Manchester United and Chelsea FC boss Mourinho was not particularly impressed by the overall quality of the game.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Mourinho said: “He [Alisson] was not phenomenal, he didn’t have five, six, seven, eight saves, but he had a couple of saves which stopped Tottenham drawing.

“I think that if this match was not the Champions League final, if it’s a Premier League match, the final of the League Cup, we would all say the game was not good.

“Because it’s a Champions League final it has this emotional side of it, that every Champions League final becomes a special match.

“But the quality of the game was not good. I think Tottenham has to be frustrated because they lost, but not just that, but they feel better than this.

“And it’s in the big moment you have to be at your best level.”

Liverpool FC will now be preparing to turn their attentions towards next season and their attempt to overhaul Manchester City in the race to win the Premier League title.

The Reds finished in second place in the Premier League table this season and just a single point behind the Citizens.
