Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool FC to recruit Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt in the summer transfer window, according to a report

Jurgen Klopp has asked Liverpool FC to sign Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt ahead of bitter rivals Manchester United, according to a report in Germany.
German media outlet Sport Bild, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Reds boss is eager to sign De Ligt in the summer transfer window.
The same article states that Liverpool FC aren’t anticipating any major signings in the summer but Klopp has asked the board to sign De Ligt.
According to the same report, the 19-year-old is in demand amid interest from FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United after his excellent season.
Sport Bild go on to add that Manchester United have offered the teenager the best financial package so far, although the Red Devils can’t provide De Ligt with Champions League football next term.
Liverpool FC, on the other hand, are top seeds in next season’s Champions League after the Reds were 2-0 winners against Tottenham Hotspur in the final last weekend.
The report reveals that Klopp wants De Ligt to forge a long-term partnership with his compatriot and international team-mate Virgil van Dijk at centre-half.
Liverpool FC finished in second place in the Premier League table last term after the Reds ended up a point adrift of Manchester City.
