Liverpool FC are not interested in a deal to sign Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir this summer, according to a report in England.

The Independent is reporting that the Reds aren’t interested in a deal to sign the France international despite coming close to signing Fekir last summer.

The same article refutes recent reports that Liverpool FC were set to reignite their interest in the 25-year-old ahead of the new Premier League season.

According to the same story, the Merseyside outfit haven’t changed their mind about Fekir’s “historic knee injury” despite the French playmaker entering the final 12 months of his contract.

Liverpool FC were close to signing Fekir last summer and the Lyon midfielder even travelled to Melwood for a medical and selected his shirt number ahead of a £53m transfer.

However, a deal fell through after Liverpool FC sought a second opinion on Fekir’s knee issue after his initial medical at the 18-time English champions.

Fekir scored nine goals and made seven assists in 29 games in Ligue 1 last season, which wasn’t quite as impressive as his haul for the 2017-18 campaign.

Liverpool FC won their first major trophy under Jurgen Klopp earlier this month following a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final in Madrid.
