Rafael Benitez states his prediction for Liverpool FC v Tottenham
Rafael Benitez looks ahead to Liverpool FC's clash with Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final
Rafael Benitez has warned Tottenham Hotspur that Liverpool FC will fly out of the gates in Saturday’s Champions League final showdown.
The Lilywhites are preparing to compete in their first ever Champions League final as they gear up for their clash with their Premier League rivals in Madrid this weekend.
Liverpool FC are looking to go one step further than they did last season, when they ended up losing 3-1 to Real Madrid in the showpiece last year.
Spurs earned plenty of praise for their impressive comeback win against Ajax in the semi-finals to reach the showpiece.
But Liverpool FC have been in brilliant form themselves and they came from three goals down against FC Barcelona to seal their spot in the showpiece.
And former Liverpool FC boss Benitez seems to think that the Reds are likely come out all guns blazing on Saturday night.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Benitez said: “Liverpool will try to start with intensity from the first minute, and Tottenham will try to manage it.
“It depends if Pochettino decides to play four at the back or five at the back and whether they will have more options to keep the ball.
“We will see how Tottenham manage this pressure. If they can keep the ball, they are quite dangerous with players between the lines. But if Tottenham are attacking high, Liverpool are quite dangerous also on the counter-attack.”
Liverpool FC have still not yet won a major trophy under Jurgen Klopp since his appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor back in October 2015.
Spurs, too, are yet to win any silverware under Mauricio Pochettino as the north London side look to win the Champions League trophy for the first time in their history.
