The Wales international finally signed for the Red Devils on Wednesday after weeks of speculation linking him with a transfer to the Old Trafford club.
A fee between the two clubs was agreed last week and James will now prepare to link up with his new team-mates ahead of pre-season with the Red Devils.
The 21-year-old only made his professional debut for Swansea City back in February 2018 but Solskjaer is confident that the youngster will be able to have a significant impact at Old Trafford.
Speaking to Manchester United’s official website, Solskjaer said: “Daniel is an exciting young winger with lots of skills, vision, exceptional pace and a good work ethic.
“He had a great season with Swansea City and has all the attributes needed to become a Manchester United player.
“We are delighted he has signed with our club and we are all looking forward to working with him. This is the perfect environment for Daniel to continue his development.”
Manchester United are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
The Red Devils finished in a disappointing sixth place in the Premier League table last term and without a trophy after Solskjaer was brought in to replace the sacked Jose Mourinho back in December.
Manchester United opted to make Solskjaer their new permanent boss back in March, but the Red Devils endured a disappointing end to the campaign.
