Paul Pogba told Juventus stars that he wanted a return to the club at Andrea Barzagli’s birthday party in May, according to reports.

The Daily Mirror is quoting unnamed reports from Italy as saying that the 26-year-old Manchester United midfielder underlined his desire to quit Old Trafford back in May.

Pogba’s future has been a relentless source of speculation this summer amid suggestions that he could be on his way out of Old Trafford.

The same article says that Pogba made it clear that he was open to a return to Juventus when he met up with some of his former team-mates to celebrate Barzagli’s birthday party last month.

Pogba himself has fuelled the speculation linking him with a move away from Old Trafford after he admitted that he would be open to a exit from the Premier League club.

The midfielder scored 13 goals and made nine assists in 35 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils last season, but his future still appears to be up in the air.

Pogba’s situation may in part be due to the fact that Manchester United will not be playing in the Champions League next season after they finished in sixth place and without a trophy last term.
