FC Barcelona want Man United star as Griezmann or Neymar alternative – report
FC Barcelona will look to sign Man United striker Marcus Rashford if the Spanish champions can't get a deal for Antoine Griezmann or Neymar over the line, according to a report
FC Barcelona will turn their attentions to Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford if the La Liga champions failed to sign Antoine Griezmann or Neymar this summer, according to a report in Spain.
Spanish media outlet Sport, as quoted by The Daily Mail, is reporting that FC Barcelona are hoping to sign a long-term successor for Luis Suarez in the summer transfer window after the experienced Uruguay international turned 32 in January.
The same article states that FC Barcelona have made signing Atletico Madrid’s Griezmann or Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar a priority this summer but the Spanish side will look for an alternative if a deal for either striker proves difficult.
According to the same story, Rashford is the leading contender to replace Suarez if FC Barcelona discard their attempts to sign Griezmann or Neymar ahead of the new La Liga season.
The report goes on to say that Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be eager to keep the England international as the Norwegian coach looks to rebuild at Old Trafford.
Rashford was injured in England’s 3-1 loss to the Netherlands in the Uefa Nations League semi-final on Thursday night after the Man United striker suffered the problem in a challenge that won Gareth Southgate’s side a first-half penalty.
