The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move to sign the Sporting Lisbon star in recent days as they look to add to their squad ahead of next season.
The 24-year-old was one of Sporting Lisbon’s star performers last season, with the midfielder having netted 20 goals and made 13 assists in 33 league games for the Portuguese side.
Fernandes helped Portugal to win the inaugural Nations League on Sunday, and speaking after the game, the midfielder delivered an update about his future.
Speaking in an interview with Sport Mediaset, Fernandes said: “I know nothing, I will take the next few days to understand what is true.
“We know that newspapers sometimes have to make a show to move the market and sell.
“I’m calm, I’m at a big club. I don’t need to move, I’m not trying to leave.
“If the opportunity comes to go to a team that you can’t refuse, I’ll talk to Sporting.”
Manchester United have already announced one signing this summer after they confirmed that they have agreed a deal to sign midfielder Daniel James from Swansea City.
The Red Devils are expected to be busy in the transfer market in the coming weeks as they look to further bolster their squad ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first full campaign in charge at Old Trafford.
They finished sixth in the table and without a trophy under the Norwegian coach last term.
