Manchester United make an £84m offer for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to a report

Manchester United have made an £84m offer to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport, as quoted by The Daily Mail, is reporting that Manchester United are prepared to make the Senegal international the world’s most expensive defender in order to get a deal over the line.
The same article states that Manchester United could face stiff competition from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain for the imposing Napoli centre-half in the 2019 summer transfer window.
According to the respected Italian media outlet, Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis will not sell Koulibaly for less than £89m ahead of the new Serie A season.
The story goes on reveal that Koulibaly will have a £133m contract release clause that becomes active next summer.
Manchester United have been regularly linked with a move to sign the Napoli centre-half since Jose Mourinho’s spell in charge of the Italian outfit.
The Red Devils have relied upon defenders Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones over the past couple of seasons.
Liverpool FC made Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk the most expensive defender in the world when the Reds signed the former Celtic man in a £75m deal from Southampton in January 2018.
