Lucas Torreira gives fresh update about his Arsenal future
Lucas Torreira insists that he feels "at home" at Arsenal
Lucas Torreira has insisted that he feels “at home” at Arsenal following the speculation linking him with a transfer away from The Emirates.
The Uruguay midfielder only signed for the Gunners from Sampdoria last summer but there has been speculation this year that AC Milan are keen on trying to lure him back to Serie A.
Torreira enjoyed a strong first season in England, with the 23-year-old having scored two goals and made two assists in 34 Premier League games for the Gunners.
Now, following the speculation linking him with a move away from The Emirates, Torreira has insisted that he does feel settled at the north London club.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Torreira said: “It’s been a pretty big change for me.
“Genoa is a much smaller city than London, but every week I feel more comfortable and learn new things about the way of life,
“When I arrived, we saw traditional landmarks, trying to get my bearings. Now it feels more like home.
“It was the best option. This is a huge club with massive support across the world. The fans and everyone associated with the club have made me feel so welcome. I really feel like a part of the family here.”
Torreira was unable to help Arsenal to win the Europa League last season as the Gunners ended up losing the final 4-1 to Chelsea FC back in May.
The north London side missed out on the chance to qualify for next season’s Champions League when they ended up in fifth place in the Premier League table in Unai Emery’s first campaign in charge at the club.
Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in 2003-04.
