Arsenal midfielder set to leave and join Bordeaux – report
Mohamed Elneny is set to leave Arsenal and join Bordeaux this summer, according to reports
Mohamed Elneny is set to leave Arsenal and sign for Bordeaux this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Times, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that the Gunners midfielder is set to leave The Emirates this summer and move to the Ligue 1 club after having struggled for game-time last term.
The same story says that Elneny will have to take a pay-cut to seal his move to the French club, who have recently made an approach to sign him.
The 26-year-old struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the Arsenal team last season, and he only started five of the Gunners’ 38 Premier League games.
The same story says that Elneny is now set to leave Arsenal in a cut-price transfer.
According to the same article, the Egypt international was offered to both Crystal Palace and Fulham last season – but his £55,000 a week wages proved to be too much of a stumbling block.
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table and without a trophy last season after they lost 4-1 to Chelsea FC in the Europa League final back in May.
The Gunners have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
