Unai Emery says Arsenal are still working on making three key signings this summer.

The Gunners have been linked with a host of names in the summer transfer window so far as they prepare for the Spanish head coach’s second campaign in charge at The Emirates.

Arsenal have completed deals for both William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli, plus the loan signing of Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid.

Saliba, though, is set to be loaned back to Saint-Etienne for next season, so the Gunners will possibly still look to bring in further defensive reinforcements this summer.

Now, speaking after Arsenal’s Emirates Cup defeat by Lyon at the weekend, Emery has hinted that the Gunners have three main transfer targets in mind before the season gets under way in early August.

Speaking at his post-match news conference, Emery said: “We are deciding how we can improve.

“At the beginning we were thinking to do one player to achieve the possibility to sign, but only if we can really, really improve this position.

“It’s one centre back, one midfielder and one winger and we are going to [try] to do that. We are thinking the same.

“I want a team that is better than last year, so the players can achieve a lot being with us this season.

“Also we have a very good team. Only the players that can improve and help the squad [will be brought in].”

Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term and missed out on a trophy after they ended up losing 4-1 to Chelsea FC in the Europa League final.

Emery’s first priority will be trying to steer Arsenal back into the top four this season as they bid to try and break back into the Champions League qualification spots.
