The Real Madrid midfielder’s future has been a source of a lot of debate throughout the summer transfer window so far.
Ceballas has put himself in the shop window following his impressive performances in Spain’s triumph in the European Under-21 championship.
Real Madrid are thought to be eager to raise some funds as well after Zinedine Zidane brought in four big name signings in the current window.
Ceballos has been linked with a move to north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur ahead of transfer deadline day next month.
The Real Madrid starlet is thought to prefer a loan move as Ceballos believes he can still have a long-term future in the Spanish capital.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth revaeled that Arsenal are leading the race to sign the former Real Betis star.
“This one looks like it’s close,” Sheth told Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast.
“We’re told Ceballos has chosen Arsenal because he believes he’ll have more first-team opportunities at The Emirates compared to Real Madrid and another club who are in talks with him, Tottenham.
“We must mention it’s a loan move, which works for Arsenal who want have a massive outlay and it works for Ceballos, who believes he can still have a future at Real Madrid.”
Arsenal manager Unai Emery is thought to be working within tight financial constraints in the current summer transfer window.
As a result, a loan deal for Ceballos would help Emery to balance the books as the Spanish head coach looks to improve his squad without putting a big dent in his transfer budget.
