Reporter: Arsenal working hard to sign quality 24-year-old
Arsenal are working to finalise personal terms with Nicolas Pepe after agreeing a fee with Lille, says Fabrizio Romano
Arsenal are “working hard” to agree personal terms with Nicolas Pepe on his proposed transfer to The Emirates this summer, according to reporter Fabrizio Romano.
The north London side are widely reported to be closing in on the signing of the 24-year-old Lille attacker as Unai Emery looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new campaign.
According to reports last week, Arsenal have already agreed a deal to sign Pepe this summer and are now looking to finalise personal terms with the Ivorian.
Now, Italian reporter Romano has revealed that Arsenal are continuing to work hard on sealing a deal to bring Pepe to the north London club.
Romano wrote on Twitter: “Arsenal are working to complete Pepe deal with player agents about his contract. Total agreement with Lille as said yesterday.”
Pepe was in top form for Lille last season as he scored 22 goals and made 11 assists in 38 Ligue 1 games for the French side.
Arsenal are looking for reinforcements to try and help them to break back into the top four this season after they finished fifth and without a trophy last term.
The Gunners – who lost the Europa League final to Chelsea FC in May – have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign under Arsene Wenger.
