The 41-year-old was confirmed as the club’s new manager earlier this month after Maurizio Sarri departed Stamford Bridge to take over at Juventus following just a year in charge of the Blues.
Lampard arrives at Chelsea FC with only a year’s worth of managerial experience under his belt, after he led Derby County to the Championship play-off final last season.
Azpilicueta knows Lampard well, and the Spanish full-back believes that the former England international is poised to have a very positive impact at Stamford Bridge next term.
Speaking in an interview with Chelsea FC’s website, Azpilicueta said: “It’s good to have the manager with us.
“I watched some Derby games last season and obviously shared a dressing room with him so I know the way he was as a player and I could see in this week of training the way he wants us to play.
“He wants us to feel the shirt and train hard every day, which is something special that we’re all looking forward to.
“Frank was here for a very long and successful period so he knows what it means to try to be better every day.
“Sometimes we lost games but we always wanted to win more and more. We have to be grateful and feel the passion to be Chelsea players. It’s a big club and we have to take the responsibility.”
Chelsea FC will be aiming to challenge for the Premier League title next season after they finished in third place and won the Europa League under Sarri last term.
Lampard is Chelsea FC’s all-time record goal-scorer and Blues fans will be hoping that he is the man to help take the west London side forwards in the coming years.
Chelsea FC have not won the Premier League title since their final triumph under Antonio Conte back in 2017.
