Chelsea FC suffer N’Golo Kante injury setback
N'Golo Kante has travelled back to the UK from Chelsea FC's pre-season tour for treatment on a knee injury
N’Golo Kante has been sent back to England from Chelsea FC’s pre-season tour due to a knee injury.
The France international has flown back to the UK for treatment on the knee injury that he picked up towards the end of last season.
Kante has not yet featured under new boss Frank Lampard in pre-season and it now appears that he will face a race against time to be fit for Chelsea FC’s Premier League opener on 11 August against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
A statement from Chelsea FC read: “N’Golo Kante has travelled back to the UK to continue his rehabilitation for an injury connected to the knee problem he sustained at the end of last season.”
Kante will be hoping to recover quickly and prove himself to new boss Lampard as the Blues aim to climb the Premier League table next season.
The World Cup winner was deployed in a slightly more advanced role by Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea FC last season and it remains to be seen what plans Lampard has for the Frenchman.
Chelsea FC ended up in third place in the Premier League table and having won the Europa League in Sarri’s first and only campaign in charge at the club.
The Italian manager opted to leave Stamford Bridge to take over at Juventus, with Chelsea FC appointing Lampard as their new boss earlier this month.
